    Default Pro Valve Adapter

    All,

I just made the jump and converted my MK25 from yoke to DIN. I'm having a hard time removing the yoke-to-din adapter from my pro valve on my Worthington tank. I've bent 2 allen wrenches (made in China - most likely the culprit) and am now a little apprehensive to attempt it again. Is there a reason why it's so hard? Is it because of salt deposit? Is it ok if I soak the valve with 'salt-away'?

    Thanks,
    Sean

The adapter shouldn't be tight enough to bend even a cheap chinese allen key. I'm not sure what "salt-away" is or if it will have any effect on the o-rings in your tank, make sure you don't use something that can damage the neck o-ring or other parts of the valve.

    Hi

    Welcome to Dive Matrix.

Wow - that is one tough doughnut.

So lone as the valve is closed and there is gas in the cylinder, no water will get in. I don't know what "salt away" is - but warm water should dissolve (or better, put into solution) the salt that may be jamming it up.

    We're glad you're here.

Hi. Thank you for the warm welcome. Glad to see there are so many helpful people out there.

Salt away is the chemical that boat owners use to mix with water while they rinse down their boats. The stuff does wonder for corrosion. As for the adapter, I bought a US-made set of allen wrench and it came right out, and sure enough it was stuck due to the salt build up. It looks like I may have to rinse the tank/valve more carefully after the dives. Thank you all for the input.
