Thread: Cost of commercial diving??

    Default Cost of commercial diving??

    Hi,
I'm working on a project investigating the use of underwater ROVs for commercial work. I'm trying to get a rough idea of how much contracters charge for commercial work and if anyone can give me a rough idea that would be great.

I'd be interested in knowing the cost for:
    1. A day of non-saturation work for 2 to 3 people
    2. A day of saturation work for for 2 to 3 people

Just approximate figures is all I need.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Stas

I can't help you myself, but I know someone who might be able to. They are a husband and wife team that does a lot of sidescan and ROV search and recovery work. Currently they're working on the recovery of a house boat in Lake Powell (from 450'), but their resume includes the Laci Peterson search, as well as the search for Gertrude Silver (which is where I know them from). They operate from a trailerable work skiff with a small ROV and a very nice side scan unit. If that sounds like someone who can do what you need, let me know and I'll put you in touch with them.

    Hi Brian,
If you can put me in touch, that would be great.
Please note though that I only need a very rough costs for somewhat un-related reasons. We are looking at researching the development of underwater ROVs and I'm curious to know the cost of hiring commercial divers. At most this will get a one sentence contribution to our research proposal.
Thus if it is a big trouble for you to put me in touch, then please do not.
If it is no trouble for you, then this would be great.
    Thanks,
    Stas

Remember for SAT you have to put on a 24hr crew, decompression time, shipboard systems, life support and med team etc. These can run as high as $250,000 for a one day sat diving operation. It's not just the cost of the day of diving it's the mobilization and decompression from it all.

Another option for small jobs that SAT would work but cost is limited is to use the NEWT SUIT. This shaves costs down to about $60k a day. Here is some info http://www.nwrain.net/~newtsuit/home...t/ns_price.htm

    Hope this helps.
