Default Topside photos: Mexico November 2009

I took my Canon SD980 to shoot 720p video, but occasionally I snapped some photos topside as well.

Here's a few from our trip in Mexico this past November.

I haven't even left yet, and these pictures are already bringing back memories . . .

How do you like the camera, Don? Any video samples?

I got a 960 to take to Coz in january (don't want to lug my SLR) and I'm getting a housing. I think it's the same sensor, but I haven't really had a chance to see how it looks.

I like the camera, but more for video than the images. I tend to take a lot of low light type of images, and SD980 is serviceable, but not spectacular.

Even though the sensors are all the same in the 12 megapixel cameras (supposed all 12 mp, not only Canon), people seem to have a more difficult time taking good pictures with the SD980. Which seems odd, and I'll have to play around more.

The benefit of the 960 is that you get to use the Canon housing. The Ikelite housing is solid, but there's a couple of things that I find odd (zoom doesn't spring to neutral).

As for video sample, here's a few short clips.

    Jailhouse

    Dreamgate

Please share your SD960 footage when you take it to Cozumel. I looked at this camera too, and it was a close call.

awesome. Looks great! Are you using video lights?

I opted for the ikelite housing due to the better pressure rating. Hopefully I don't regret that...

No video lights. I have the Salvo 12w LED that I aim upwards or downwards to provide some light, but certain videos (eg. Dreamgate) is only other people's HIDs/LEDs.

Ah, that's totally true about the depth rating. Canon's buttons lose function/stick below 130'.
