My Tank Knob just spins.... Servicing a Thermo Pro-K Valve

Never had that problem as I always drain the tank and take a look before leting a shop monkey have it.

Hi Guys,

1. I disassembled/reassembled 2 thermo tank valves and now they leak around the knob when opened. I assume it's either the crush washer or o-ring. Is it true that the crush washers are generally one time use things? Can you "recrush" them with more torque? I may have accidentally flipped them when I reassembled. I'll check again when i get back in town and see if it makes any difference.

2. Anyone found a good source for these things? $22 per rebuild kit seems a little steep - especially when I mainly just need the o-ring and crush washer.

An ultrasonic cleaner is a wonderful thing to own. Bolt snaps slide smoothly; inflator hoses glide onto Schrader valves. Just don't try to clean the tannin deposits off your tea caddy -- it doesn't work.

But they do a fine job of stripping the chrome off your showerhead.

Vinegar in a US cleaner can take the white off of a billiard ball.
