What is the Wrinkles Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and sometimes even camping!

It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!

It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".

Loose Schedule of events:

7:00AM - Early Birds arrive and lay claim to a spot (put out tarps and shade thingies)
8:00AM - First Dive
11:00AM - Second Dive
12:00AM - Lunch
2:00PM - Third Dive
5:00PM - Fourth Dive
6:30PM - Night Dive (Sunset, bring your lights, extra batteries and warm clothes)

2007 Wrinkles Dive Schedule:

Wrinkles dives will take place every 2nd Saturday of the month and we will occasionally have both a Saturday and Sunday included for an entire weekend of fun.

January 13th, Saturday - San Diego County - La Jolla Shores
February 10th, Saturday - Orange County - Heisler Park
March 10th, Saturday - Catalina Island - Avalon Dive Park
April 14th, Saturday - Los Angeles - Palos Verdes/Redondo area - Veteran's Park
May 12th, Saturday - San Diego County - La Jolla Shores
June 9th, Saturday - Orange County - Heisler Park

Well...you know I'll be there bright and early!

I hope we have the 50 to 70-foot vis we experienced in La Jolla this weekend, but I'll be happy with 15 - 20 feet of vis.

Well if you guys find a location that doesn't completely suck....and Roughwater John drives.....and I don't get a better diving offer that weekend.....

The get together will still go on.

We're looking into a nearby alternative just in case this site is actually closed.

I'll post more when we figure this out.

If anyone has ideas for an alternative, let us know!

Looks like it's just you and Ted. Guess that means you are diving solo Christian.

We'll gather a crowd as we usually do at the last minute.

I think that Ted will be scouting for a spot. He's been unusually busy lately. So if he can't do it, then I'll probably drive down there this weekend and do some scouting for a spot a bit north or south of where we usually meet.

It'll be a fun day!

Hey everybody,

Sorry about the long silence. That's a long story, which I'll share later.

After a few missed communications, we have a solid plan.

Thanks to Gordy at Laguna Sea Sports, we will be using his shop as our Dive Headquarters this Saturday. It's only a couple of blocks away from where we usually park. In fact, I may park in the same place and just walk over to Laguna Sea Sports.

We can still dive many of the spots that we usually dive, but the construction won't allow us to use the ususal spot for our BBQ.

So, everything is the same except for the location and even that's close.

The pot luck BBQ is still on and Gordy even has a BBQ for us to use. He's having an OW class at the pool that day, so let's be mindful of that and try to stay out of their way.

Please park your cars on the street, so that we don't take up the Laguna Sea Sports parking lot.

Since many of us will be arriving before they open, we'll just meet up and plan out dives in the parking lot. Bring some folding chairs, so we can all sit around and hang out during out SI!

If we are providing food for other patrons of LSS we will need a plan whereby severa lof us bring burger stuff. Not sure if Gordy's grill is gas - think it might be.

I'm picking up burgers and buns at Costco tomorrow before I get off work. Generally the toppings go mostly unused so I don't think the standard sized bottles will be an issue.
