    Default Diving in Louisiana?

Is there any? I have had very little luck locating divers or dive clubs in the area. Are you out there?
Looks like the Army has decided that my husband and I should move to Central-Western Louisiana.
Talk to me about any dive sites in the Fort Polk area. Cheer me up about this move. Please!

New Orleans is only a 3 1/2 hour drive away from Pensacola, FL. You're closer to some awesome diving than you think.

Doug, I am not leaving until June or July. Sometime before then, we need to go diving again! I googled it the other day and it is about 10 hours from Fort Polk to High Springs. Hopefully we will be back in WA in about two years for good. In the meantime, my family is out here so I will be around to harass you on a regular basis.

I suppose that means you're still going to want to borrow my tanks then?

Groan... 2 years? That's WAY too long... I'm still not making lemonade. I might pour some of Lynne's lemonade and add some vodka to cope, but I'm not making any myself.

Good news and bad news. Good diving to be had but it is harder to get to. Flower gardens are awesome.Offshore rigs are good, but it is mostly private boats. Probably find some charters in Venice, maybe others. Spearfishing is the norm.Forget High Springs, Panhandle caves are closer and IMO better anyways.Offshore diving in the panhandle good as well.

Some fresh water but not much worthwhile. Murky holes in the ground with little to see. Because of the continental shelf and the rivers, you typically have to go far offshore in the Gulf to hit deep and blue water generally.

Oh, I'm not happy about Kate leaving, either. But I figured this thread was for cheering her up, not for mourning
