    Default missing link

I tried your sduadiver link, and it came up dead. :(

What time do the classroom sessions start? Will you repeat the class on both days? Do I need any diving background?

Maybe if I go to San Diego Underwater Adventures at 8245 Ronson Rd in
San Diego, CA 92111 or call them at (858) 576-7382 I can get answers to these questions and many more! -N

    Default class time

The class starts at 10am on Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon and Sunday are the Dives for the class. You need to be an advanced certified diver with at least 25 dives to enroll in this course. If you have any questions you may call me at 858 254 5575

    Advanced diver and 25 dives?

That seems awfully low for technical training.

It's INTRO to tech training. Sounds like gas management, proper trim, gear selection, kicks, etc. This is basically GUE-F stuff. 25 dives sounds about right as a minimum. Doesn't mean someone's going to start tech diving after the class.

    Default intro to tech

This is a max depth of 75 feet, covering gas management, gear configurations, out of air drills, bouancy practice, and more. It's a good class to prepare someone for tech or just to learn some new skill sets to make better divers.

    Default class report

We had a good turn out at SDUA on Saturday. There were about 8 people actively participating in the classroom session. We went over many aspects of dive planning, team diving procedures, and then went spent most of the time on gas management. Gas management is a crucial part of diving, from the most basic of courses to the most advanced. They learned how to calculate their SAC rate (surface air consumption) and then how to convert that into RMV (respiratory per minute volume) at depth. Then went through quite a few different scenarios to give them a working knowledge of how this would relate to their current diving. Also covered was how quickly their gas supply can be depleted during an emergency, especially during sharing air emergencies. It seemed as though everyone came away with a sense of enlightenment. All in all a good time.

During the practical ( in water) prortion, we performed three one hour dives over the two days. During which we covered sdrills, mask removal and clearing, frog kicking, reverse frog, helecopter turns, failure scenarios, controlled timed ascents (midwater simulating deco), and lift bag deployment. Now they have plenty to practice to prepare for their deco class.

Guys I can speak from experience, these are good classes to take and Shane is a great instructor. It's money well spent if you are thinking of attending any of his classes.

    Spot On! Great class.

I would like to thank Shane and SDUA for a great class. I found the lecture very helpful in understanding the fundamentals of gas management as well as the getting my fingers on some of those delicious cheeseburgers. (Thanks to Liz, Chip and Bill for hosting the used gear sale).

The class has given me a good boost of confidence to take into the cavern course I've planned for next week in FL.

If anybody from the class reads this and wants to dive together to practice skills, please contact me.

    Mike
