Hello fellow divers,
Just thought I'd pass along an exciting job opportunity with Reef Check California. If you're not familiar with Reef Check California, in a nutshell, we have teams of volunteer divers statewide (currently over 200 divers from San Diego to Humboldt County) who are using standardized protocols to monitor their local rocky reefs. This scientifically sound data is then passed along to resource managers so they can use it to make management decisions. We have trainings all around the state in the spring/early summer and we survey over 50 sites in the spring and fall. These numbers - both number of volunteers and number of sites - will grow in 2008 so we need some additional help organizing our volunteers and surveys.
This job is a 20 hour/week position based in the Los Angeles region. It might be the perfect opportunity for a graduate student or someone who wants a part time job. There's plenty of diving involved! Full details can be found below and you can also check our website for more information: www.reefcheck.org
Thanks,
Colleen Wisniewski
