Default Wrinkles June 2008 Dive & BBQ - Laguna Beach, CA

    When: Saturday, June 14th
Where: Orange County, Gather at Laguna Sea Sports in Laguna Beach

Hosam from Laguna Sea Sports has been nice enough to offer us a place to gather at Laguna Sea Sports for our BBQ, while Heisler Park is still under construction. He has chairs and tables that we can use. He will even let us use his propane BBQ. (I'll bring a bottle of propane, so we don't use his.)

We did this for our October 2007 and February 2008 Wrinkles event and it worked out very well for us!!

Anytime you get a chance to visit Laguna Sea Sports, please ask for Hosam and thank him for letting The Dive Matrix use his place to gather for our Laguna Beach events.

For a complete list of all of the Wrinkles dives for the 2008 calendar year, see this thread:

    What is the Wrinkles Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers and non-divers in SoCal who can make it. It's a lot of fun involving diving, eating, socializing and sometimes even camping!

It all started when our SoCal member, Wrinkles, mentioned to a group that she dove with that it would be really fun to be able to get together at least once a month. Pasley, took off with the idea and announced the first "Wrinkles Dive". The rest is history!

It's open to everyone of all skill levels from "I'm not certified yet" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

We've found this to be a great way to meet our fellow divers locally and many new dive buddies have been found though these "dive soirees".

We won't really know how many we'll need until later in the week when we see how many people are coming.

However, I would guess that 2 dozen will be more than enough. We always wind up with plenty of food and people take a lot of it home.

Also, there is a Von's just down the street. So, we can always easily get anything we need.

    Thanks!

    Default Logical Light of day...

... taking up where optimistic midnight dreaming left off....

I'm about an hour away from Laguna.
    Let's make it 0630 - 0700.

Last time the Wrinkles event was in Laguna, there were 6 or 7 teams that dived Deadman's early and then went to LSS for the SI.

Anyone else going early that does not own a scooter? I'd like to do deadman's, but am not equipped with power-assist functionality :-)

Possibly. But 6:30? I'd have to leave at 5:30... means getting up at 4:30.

    No thanks!

There's a decent chance I'll show up later, though.

    Default Relativity

0525, Monday - Thursday: my alarm wakes the nearly-dead... groan...

0500 on a dive day: My eyes are open before the alarm and I'm running the list in my head to make sure all the gear is packed. Out the door in nuthin' flat.

    Isn't it Saturday, yet??!!?

I'll get up that early for a boat... if I have to, but not a shore dive. Generally. I've made many exceptions.

Mon-Fri, however, my alarm goes off at 8am, and I drag myself out of bed at 8:30. Weekends are supposed to be for sleeping in, so 5am is just unconscionable! LOL

I understand both points of view but will have the issue this Saturday decided by a teen in tow who is punctuality-impaired.
