Default A new compass for my Dive Xtras Mini Cuda ... two enthsiastic thumbs up

Last fall I was diving with John and Karen in Gods Pocket. John was using a very cool Kayak compass mounted to the scoot. I made a note of this.

Claudette picked one up not long ago. We did a dive, I drooled on myself and made a note of this.

I finally got one two weeks ago and have been diving it.

    This thing is the bomb.

We got them at West Marine for $34.99. That's retail (who knows how cheap they are online)... that's half the price of an SK7, and almost half the price of the module alone.

Some views of it at below.

So far no issues at depth, no issues interfering with the DSS Surf Strap, no durability issues.

Had to do a little re-weighting (they're barely negative) but no biggie.

I love this thing. I can't recommend it highly enough.

    Some views below.

Cut the straps off leaving the loops then tie and loop of bungee between the loops.

I dunno, Ken, that looks like it would slow me down on my getaway after jacking your scoot...

Well, I got my Mini Cuda and I found it is not easy to navigate with a wrist-compass (didn't get the handle-mount one yet). So I picked this third-eye that Ken mentioned in this thread and look forward to applying it. It will be useful.

About how much lead did you remove from the nose?

    I have no idea.

Remember, I added a can-and-a-half of primer, at least two full cans of paint, and a half a can of rubberized whatzis to the nose when I refinished this dawg.

I just know I took out more shot than the average Cuda Owner.

This compass is slightly negative.... so if you're weighted perfectly before it, you'll need to take some off.

OR - move from a large double ender to a medium one on the nose...that did the trick for me when I added this compass.
