    Default Cuda 850 Battery Components

Random question here--what exactly is in the Cuda 850 battery? They list it as 34 x 2D Cells--what is a 2D cell? Google came up with nothing, and I've not seen them on allbattery.com or anywhere else. Is a 2D cell literally two D cells soldered together? Or is it a special type of cell?

Thanks for the information, and sorry for the irrelevance....

    2D = Double D. "D" diameter x ~twice as long

There have likely been days when I did NOT learn something on DiveMatrix...but they are few and far between.

Of course, what I don't know about batteries could fill several text books.

    Chica Batt Knowledge summary:
    1. Charge before use.
    2. Connect before entering water.
    3. Squeeze trigger and hold onto somethin'.
    4. Buy the best battery in the world (DSS Lion) for the best scooter (DiveXtras miniCuda) for real diving in the raucous world of SoCal diving from shore and boats
    5. Recharge before use.
    6. Protect from heat.
    7. Dive scoot and batt with the Apex Dive Buddy (ADB, aka mo2vation) as often as possible.
    8. Dive scoot and batt as often as possible.

But I'm always interested in learning more. ;-)

After every glorious visit with Tobin, as I'm driving home, I pull over, break out a note pad, and write notes on everything he taught me about the topic of the day.

Thanks DMX, and welcome "Moose" to this amazing place.

I should add that 2D cells were never common, and may be hard to source now. Nimh batteries are rapidly being replaced by Li-Ion, and many cell manufacturers no long make NiMh. The "Oddball" cells are the first to disappear. 4/3A (laptops and many portable power tools) will be with us a long time.

I'd suggest contacting Dive Xtras. If 2D packs are available they will know.

If not you may consider a shorter hull for use with your current tail section, and other battery options.

Once again, thanks! I (hopefully) don't plan on re-doing the battery--I was just curious what was actually in there, without taking it apart and breaking it to find out.

Sorry but that's what double D means for me
