FINALLY
Lets go Kings!!

PS: I've totally and completely lost my dive buddy in Hockey Fever. I made the mistake of introducing her to the game last year at this time.... she's a monster. She's gonna be bouncing off the ceiling soon, and she's currently negotiating with DUI to replace the very Sharks looking teal blaze on her dry suit with a Kings Silver blaze.

Lets just say the red and black drysuit was more than a fashion statement. The original plan was to get a name placard on the back, but I just couldn't force myself to get 'Havlat' or 'Calder' stitched on the back, and they didn't have anybody better at the time.

In addition to 20 other names (death and destruction, cash and prizes, arm and hammer, Wow and Flutter, Sunny and Bright, etc... you get the idea) one of the pair of names for her kitties is: Gagne and Quick
Yea - she's very quickly becoming a superfan. She has a Hockey sweater already. She YouTube's goals, she listens to games on Iheartradio.com on the highway when she's traveling so she doesn't miss a single bone-crushing hit. She went to Frozen Fury in Vegas this year for heaven's sake.
Its only a matter of time until she becomes a full on face painter.
The Kings winning the cup will not exactly slow down this juggernaut.

I blame you.
Over a year ago I was stuck at work one night waiting for a case to start.
You called, and when you found out I was just hanging around you spoke those fateful words, "Chica! Get a Grip! The Stanley Cup Final! Find a TV, you nutbar!"
I don't remember the surgical case that night, but I'll never forget watching the blood-boiling, heart-thumping, finger-tingling thrill of Stanley Cup Final hockey.
O.M.G.
I watched every remaining game, ignorant and transfixed.
I called you with a thousand questions.
I flinched with every hit, but kept my eyes open so I didn't miss a second.
Then it was over and life returned to normal.
I wasn't sure what truck had hit me but I shook it off and went on with life.
Months later, eating lunch under a warm August sun with my best RN friend from work, my unguarded soul totally rolled over when she said, "Hey, do you like hockey? We have 2 extra tickets for Frozen Fury in Las Vegas. Wanna come?"
So.... on opening night of Lobster Season, I was seated between my friend and my son, amidst 17,895 raving lunatics dressed in Kings gear, in the middle of the Nevada desert at the MGM Grand, watching my first ever exhibition hockey game.
The play was unimpressive.
I think the Avalanche won but I can't really remember.
I came home 2 days later with a funny feeling, like I had a foxtail in the sock around my heart.
hmmmm.... weird.
I think I liked it.
Regular season had me chasing Kings games on TV, searching for that screaming electric mainlining-crack thing that I'd seen in the Stanley Cup Final.
A serious fan took me to a Senators game at Staples Center.
The crowd was enthusiastic, but the play was just OK.
Everybody was happy 'cause the Kings won.
I was beginning to doubt my sanity.
Had I been hallucinating last spring?
Had I just imagined the excitement, or failed to titrate my meds correctly????? (kidding.. titrating vitamins couldn't have lit my fire the way I remembered it.)
I started to turn away, watching a game every now and then.
Until they made the playoffs and I watched the first game against the Canucks.
Holy mother-of-cow!
Now THIS is HOCKEY!!!!
Chica.
Playoff hockey.
Hook-line-sinker.
Swallowed.
I've been a pawn in the Kings Hockey Game-of-Life from that moment forward.
And well.... it's come to this.
I blame Ken.
Who, I'm sure, sleeps fine.

I'll just say that I got three hockey sticks for my baptism. Right-Handed, Left-Handed, and Goalie. There was no pressure on me...they let me play whatever position I chose.

Well, the kings have a pattern going at least with losing game 4.
Diver Steve knows his stuff!
Bites.
It's a thrilling but evanescent phenomenon, capturing 60 minutes of lightspeed emotional athleticism, combining 2 independent philosophically unique populations in a zero-sum contest threaded with chance, hazard, and Newtonian physics.
And beer.
And losing still bites.
