Here are some more accurate shots

This one is inside my studio.

    No strobe.

There is a double black ring at the opening of the tube I didn't notice! Its from the black paint on the 3rd coating on the nose, falling onto the rings. Funny.

    Touched those up!

In case you're wondering, this is the inspiration for the color scheme.

Did I mention I love me some purple fade? Fav finish ever.

I love me some purple fade. One day, drum kit in purple fade.

I may clear coat this. Has anyone had any experience in Clear coat? Does it help at all? My thinking is I'll chip and scratch the clear coat before I chip and scratch the paint.

The bad news is I'll chip and scratch the clear coat....

    Dunno.

Any thoughts? I'm not a painter - I've never re-finished anything before so I have no idea how this stuff behaves.

    Thanks

    -K
Urethane clear coat is pretty tough, and because it's flexible it's less prone to chipping. I'd do it.

    Super.

Thanks for the tip! I'll get on that this week.

Default The Satellite is now purple!

All I have left is to sand the Satellite, touch up the body tube, seal both with the clear coat, US clean the parts, reassemble and get my scoot on for Chamber Day!

    Excited!!

Eggplant? Oh, no, that is not eggplant. If you mixed the black AND the purple, you might get eggplant. (Says Lynne, who spent two years trying to get her hairdresser to come up with eggplant-colored hair dye. I know my eggplant.)

I'm very much looking forward to seeing the finished product! Great work - Is colored anodizing vs painting an option?
