Anyone here using the Xeo?
I was just about to buy a lightly used X-1 when I learned about the Xeo's features. Now I'm leaning towards the new Xeo. Any thoughts?

Have Nomad, will travel.
Jon, I don't think you can go wrong with either, the X-1 has a metal/tougher case and dual pressure transducers, requires outsourced software but you can have multi-deco which is cool. The Xeo has GF software already loaded and it works very well, it's all I've used for years. The plastic case seems to be holding up fine with it's scratches, but I scratch up all the cases I've ever had anyway. For me the Xeo is the best deal for the money.

Thanks John, That's just the kind of report I was hoping for. I'm thinkin' Xen for the scoots and Xeo for the wrist.

The big thing for me is that I love the fact that I can put the X1 on the charger and know I have a full battery for the next day's diving.

The X1 runs v-planner live. For me this is why I own and dive X-1's.

At 50 dives, I thought I had this diving thing figured out. At 100 dives, I realized how wrong I was at 50.

The Xen/Xeo now has a rechargeable battery option, which I would recommend. My Xen eats batteries (but I love it anyway). I'm upgrading when we get back from Chuuk.
We just returned from a liveaboard, using the latest hardware versions of the Xen & Xeo. These have a larger battery than the first HW version.
After 30+ dives, they are still reading "full" on the battery indicator, so the appetite for batteries is fixed as far as I can tell.
We have Xens on our scooters. I wear an X1, Janet wears a Xeo.
I love my X1. I bought it years before the Xeo was released; it is carved from metal and exudes durability (and has taken some hard knocks without a blink). And as Mark mentions, the software I run, Multideco by Ross Hemingway, is amazingly mature & stable, and has always made me feel good. And, the X1 is smaller than the Xeo.
All of which has me sticking with my X1 quite happily. Since you're mentioning used, I absolutely would confirm that it is the v5 hardware, which has an unblemished record as far as failures go (as far as I can tell). Call Emile at Liquivision with the serial number to be sure. Anything other than v5 and I would decline the sale.
...Every time I look over at the awesome display on Janet's Xeo, though, I get a little bit envious...
All the best, James
I always dive with a bottom timer/computer on my wrist. That's the one that I use to calculate deco, and it's always there if I have to throw the scooter away in an emergency.
The Xen on the scooter is purely one of convenience. It's there mostly for navigation - depth references, timing nav legs (the stopwatch function on the Xen is spectacular for this), turn times, etc. Since I'm somehow usually tasked with nav, this is a big thing for me.
Having a bottom timer out on the handle, where it's an easy flick of the eyes to check data, may not seeem like much, when all you'd normally have to do is tilt your head down to look at your right wrist; but if you scooter a lot, it really cuts down on the workload.

One of these days the good folks at Liquivision will put a color screen and a bigger battery on a revised X-1. When they do that I will be tempted to upgrade from my early hardware X-1's.

Once you have a Xen on your scooter, you'll never go back! Love it.
