    Default Key West

    Hello everyone

I am a wandering Brit (GUE tech 1, TDI trimix) who is planning a trip to Key West in the next couple of weeks. I am hoping to find a decent dive centre there. There is no need to refer me to Silent World in Key Largo instead, I know Chris and have dived with him before. I am looking for something a bit more local to where we will be staying.

So my questions are: What is the best dive centre in Key West (does not need to be DIR friendly)? Is there any technical diving worth having there? If so where can you get nitrox and trimix? Does the same centre also do recreational level dives (for Mrs Kev)?

    Any help much appreciated!

    Best

    Kev

Subtropic was just purchased by a group led by Mike Ange and will be catering to both recreational and technical divers as Seaduction Key West.

I don't know how soon they will be rolling out the tech charters but it might already be happening. You should send an email to Mike: mike@seaduction.com
I'm sure they'll be offering 02, He, sorb, etc..

Capt. Frank at Spree Expeditions is a great resource in KW. Yes, he runs a live aboard, but- he has many local contacts and will help you arrange day trips to suit. He'll also supply gas as needed. As for there being technical diving "worth doing" in KW- the answer is hell yes! You've got the Vandenberg for "tech lite", and the Ghost Fleet always pleases.
