    Default Scooter speeds...how fast

    Hi all

I'm interested in the dive-x sierra and I know the typical cruise speed for a lot of scooters is around 150ft/min (tahoe benchmark). That's 1.7 miles/hour, 1.48 knots...

But how fast is that? A bit faster than a strong frog kick. A lot faster? How fast? I've seen videos- but with no appreciation of the sizes of the terrain features etc, I can't compute it in my head.

If it helps, I dive wet in Monterey, HP100, bp/w, utd wannabe

Any of the regular scooter-jocks shed some light on this?

    Thanks

    Neil

Pretty steady kicking in a clean single tank rig = ~100 fpm

You might be able to reach 150' per minute by kicking your ass off, but you'll only be able to
maintain it for a second, the Sierra can do it for the whole dive if wanted.

Baby steps first Ben... we have to actually schedule AND meet up to dive first. What's it been? 4 years?

How is your schedule in September looking?

Just curious, hope this thread isn't too far gone...

I'm wandering at what speed setting, with pitch at full, does the sierra reach cruise speed???

My GUESS is the default - #3, but not sure...

Thks for the replies, if any!!!

You'd be pretty close to 150 fpm in 3rd gear if you have decent position and streamlining. Diver size, body position and gear config can all have a big impact on velocity.
