    Default New DIY backplate.

I didn't want to necro post to this original thread:

    http://www.divematrix.com/showthread...kplate-and-STA

But I wanted to add to it. I just finished up a stainless backplate. I told myself I'd never do another one, because they're just too time consuming to make as a one-off project. But I had a piece of 1/8" plate, so I figured I'd make another and follow the suggestion given by "airsix" in the last post of the linked thread.

THIS is my last one! I really don't know why I bother since I have 3 DSS plates that I prefer. But not everything I do makes sense.

Whoah! You actually did it! Nice job, Mitch. I wanted the first engine-turned backplate but I've been too lazy to strip my harness. You snooze you loose. Way to go, man.

It was your idea. I'm a procrastinator, I thought it was a great idea when you first suggested it. It only took me 2 years to get around to doing it.

Spoken like an old A&P mechanic......

Not too many even know what that means anymore.

(Great way to hid a few sins created during the fabrication)

    Nice plate PMF.

    Yes Sir,
"Cosmetic enhancement" to hide sins. Too funny...and true. ;-)

The running joke I've heard in sheet metal fabrication is..."Beat it to fit. Paint it to match."

Thanks Tobin. I'll be buying another wing from you after Christmas. Ever since my wife got a Torus 38 from you, my Oxycheq 40 just doesn't have to same vibe.
The 3 DSS rigs seem to be bullying that lone Oxycheq wing in our gear closet. Poor thing is gonna end up with self esteem issues. ;-)

Pete, you are correct about A&P, but I was referring to "Engine Turned" that's from the same era as "Engine Divided"
