Jennifer and I finally officially finished and passed GUE Fundamentals with Marc Hall this past weekend. We started the class lectures back in late April. Did our class dives in May, but did not get all the skills done in those dives. We still needed to "shoot the bag." Due to scheduling issues, we were not able to get that final dive in until this past Saturday. I am glad to say, we each successfully shot the bag this past Saturday.
GUE Fundies is/was a great class. In my humble opinion, GUE Fundies teaches you all the basic skills every diver should have, at a minimum, for recreational diving. Fundies made us more confident and comfortable underwater. It allowed us to take on and manage tasks underwater without added stress. (Well, the first few skills dives were "stressful." When Marc asked us to demo our back kick and we kicked and kicked and kicked some more only to find we went nowhere . . . that was somewhat "stressful.") And all of this gives us more bottom time as we consume less gas.
Marc Hall is a great teacher. Marc is very knowledgeable and passionate about diving and in particular GUE diving. Marc was able to easily convey a lot of information to us in the lectures.
In the water, Marc also was able to quickly assess our diving skills, make corrections and suggestions that immediately improved our diving skills.
But, above all, Marc was patient with us. At the beginning of the class, he let us know that he would spend whatever time it took to make sure we passed. If we needed more lecture time or dives, he would make sure we got them.
If anyone in the southern California area is interested in taking the GUE Fundies class, I would highly recommend Marc Hall.
