Congratulations Doug!
Well, I'll volunteer to be on your local test team! Everything I'm seeing here is great. I want one.
I'll try to catch you on *chat*
~ and I went through your whole tutorial on making the Spam Musubi. We are going to be trying that real soon. I have everything on hand except for the...
I like the looks of the clip as well. Great design IMO and less dangly than using the bolt snap. I'm not sure about the switch though I don't expect to be backing into or out of any restrictions.

I'm really liking the looks of this light! But will an LED really put out the same kind of crud cutting beam as a 21w HID?
Gotcha. One of the reasons I haven't purchased a strobe is that I want my camera small without all the arms and stuff.
Years ago there was a fellow at Alki that had a small hand held strobe. It...
Well... I might have to go to Oahu next time. Errrr. Maybe not. :D
But you are there for a good reason.
Tim! I miss getting to see you here and there. Literally. I still remember the Spam/rice sandwichs(?) rolled in seaweed. :-D
Tom, I'm just hand holding.
Attaching the HID to the camera would put it back to on axis lighting which is what I want to avoid. That is what causes the backscatter to snow up the scene.

Thanks! The ratfish was very friendly and I attribute some of that to the fact I wasn't blinding it with a raw HID. I think a flash might have startled it away as well. I have an even closer...

For this picture I was close enough that I could have used the camera's little onboard flash and not filled the frame with...
Cool. Post a picture of your device here in this thread and one from the dive after you try it.
Lightroom doesn't use your Photoshop plugins directly. You would need to edit in Photoshop (just a right click from within Lightroom) and use your PS plugs there and then on saving it pops you back...
Really Ken, for what you do Lightroom is the correct tool... on several levels. And believe it or not, Lightroom can do some editing tricks in seconds that CS5 can't do at all.
The camera is a Canon S95 (10mp) in the Canon wp-dc38 housing. It aquires focus much faster than my Pentax Optio (5mp) and has a low light setting (2.5mp) that takes pictures in the semi-dark.

I have no strobe and the onboard flash introduces so much backscatter it is useless here in the PNW most of the time unless I'm shooting macro. But I like including people in my pictures.
Using...
IMO Lightroom, while powerful as an editor and non-destructive to the original, is first and foremost a Digital Asset Manager. The more images you have to deal with, not just at a specific time but...
Ken it was so nice to actually see you again and get to dive... well... in the same part of the ocean. I never did see you buzzing around on your scooter but I know that you were there. :D I don't...
I didn't want to poach your thread with pictures of my own... but seeing as how 1) you didn't see anything to take a picture of at Hat Island and 2) didn't take your camera along on the ratfish dive...
Wow... I really wish I could have been there! You guys did a great job of getting LS pictures.
It's reallly Gedney Island but locals call it Hat Island.

These are the most detailed and clearly focused lumpsucker shots I've ever seen! Amazing. I'm sure that your fast DLSR focusing and shutter release helps as does a strobe to freeze the action but...
Beautiful images Ken! (Are you hosting those here in the gallery?) The detail you are getting with the D200 is wonderful.
Really? You're just gonna let that offer slide right on by?
Well, here is another idea for Saturday: Shane can take 8+ divers on Straight Arrow out to the Possession Ferry and then to Hat Island. Marine forecast is excellent (maybe rain but not wind) and the...
