About Us
The Dive Matrix exists to give scuba diving enthusiasts a social networking environment focused on all aspects of the diving lifestyle. We are here to facilitate moderated, civil communication for the benefit of individual divers and the dive industry, free from hostility and personal attacks, where members can exchange experiences, ideas and opinions related to safe diving. We will encourage and promote activities which increase opportunities for people to plan, meet and dive on a regional and inter-regional basis. Our goal is to grow as a commercially viable entity for the purpose of advancing safety, knowledge and diver networking, using our influence as a positive force within the international dive community. To further these goals, we actively seek partnerships with the world's leading educational organizations and dive industry leaders. What makes us different? The Dive Matrix is a Social Networking site where we can meet new people, stay connected to friends, learn and talk about all things related to the diving lifestyle -- on a platform that is stable, adequately funded, professionally managed and thoughtfully moderated. A site with a much larger vision than the scuba diving boards that are currently out there. There are a number of things that set us apart and make our site different from the other diving sites you may have been on:
Ted S (user "Ted S") Ted has been involved in the social networking and online industries for over 11 years, working for a variety of service providers and end-users in both technical and marketing roles. In the late 90s, Ted focused on developing and marketing free hosting solutions for small and enterprise companies and managed several sites with in excess of 200,000 users. Ted also ran a profitable web consulting firm offering development and marketing services until 2005. In June of 2000, Ted, along with two partners, launched ScubaBoard.Com as a division of the ScubaSource Network. For 5 years following the launch, Ted actively managed the community software, hosting and was responsible for site and feature development until he left the business in December 2005. Ted remains an active member of the ScubaBoard.Com community and retains the user id #1 indicating his status as the founder of the site. Ted has served as a consultant to leading online communities and has authored several popular software add-ons for many of the top internet forum applications. Ted has also written several articles on the subject of e-commerce and online communities which can be found on leading sites like SitePoint.com and in an upcoming book. Christian Lopez (user "headhunter") Christian is a Southern California native, and has been a certified diver since 1979. His love of getting divers together to combine dive excursions and social activities has been taken from the local level to a global level through the Social Networking sites he manages. Christian is working with a Cisco Systems partner bringing design, implementation, maintenance and security to voice and data networks around the world. Some notable clients include AT&T, Embarq, Raytheon, Rockwell and Kelley Blue Book. As one of the original members of the team at EarthLink, he had a hand in EarthLink's success throughout their first 8 years. As owner and principal developer for Native Creative Design Group, Christian has developed a web presence for many noteworthy clients: Los Angeles' original "smooth jazz" radio station KTWV, The Tom Leykis Show and EarthLink's Internet Radio Hour. Christian is a black belt member of the International Karate Association, as a student of well known Grand Master, Soke Takayuki Kubota. Every year Christian helps to administer an international karate tournament for Soke Kubota. In 1991, Christian won the U.S. Open Swing Team Championship with the choreography of Phil Adams and his Swingtime Dancers. He is a magician member of the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA. Other interests include backpacking, mountain biking and skiing. Kenneth Kopp (user "Mo2vation") Ken has been involved in online Social Networking since 1999, participating as an active member, a leader and a moderator in sites of all kinds of specialized interests: Toyota Trucks, Photo, Underwater Photo, Digital Imaging, Business, Multi-Track Recording and Diving. With 28 years in the consumer electronics industry, Ken has developed direct marketplaces for some of the largest CE and Photo manufacturers in the world: Nikon, Olympus, FujiFilm, Toshiba, Sharp, Hitachi, and many others.
